Firat Engin (b.1982, Ankara) is a Turkey-based contemporary artist and academic working across sculpture, installation, and light-based media. His practice is driven by tensions between memory, material, and socio-political structures, examining how objects carry traces of transformation, rupture, and collective forgetting.
Engin frequently works with industrial and organic materials—such as neon, metal, and found elements—reconfiguring them into forms that challenge permanence and authority. His works do not seek to represent reality, but to destabilize it. Rather than producing fixed meanings, they operate within shifting conditions, where visibility and absence coexist.
His practice resists resolution, constructing environments in which historical references, personal narratives, and material processes intersect without settling into a singular interpretation. Rather than offering clarity, it insists on tension.
Alongside his artistic production, Engin is an academic based in Turkey, actively engaged in teaching and research within the field of contemporary art.
